Alongside its industry-renowned colour palette of over 25 colours, Alan Paine is also announcing the launch of their English Explorer collection for Spring/Summer 2014. The collection celebrates the brand’s association with legendary mountaineer George Mallory, who took part in three expeditions to Mount Everest, was discovered frozen years later with numerous items of clothing. This included one such item bearing the label WF Paine, High Street Godalming; the shop owned by Alan Paine’s father, William Paine, and the place where William founded his knitwear business in 1907.
Highlights from the collection include the Kellas Vee Neck Jumper, a texture stitch washed out vee neck, which combines both Alan Paine’s famous knitwear textures with a range of original washed-out colours. In line with the Alan Paine’s contemporary philosophy, the Kellas Jumper is equally well suited to the contemporary urban environment as it is to the rugged outdoors from which the collection takes its inspiration.
The lightweight garments from the SS14 collection have taken inspiration from Mallory’s own wardrobe, and also include polos, sweaters and mixed textures in well washed cotton crew neck and v-neck sweatshirts. These are joined by short-sleeved pique shirts in a range of designs, offering a casual but stylish look, perfect for all exploring types.
The Alan Paine Explorer collection will be available to buy from www.alanpaine.co.uk and selected stockists nationwide.
