Lyle & Scott 140 Collection
In 1874, William Lyle and Walter Scott set out to change the face of British fashion with a loan of just £800.
This year, Lyle & Scott turns 140 and they’ve come a long way since the end of the 19th century. Lyle & Scott spun yarn that earned the Royal Warrant, fostered collaborations with fashion’s cognoscenti (from Christian Dior to Yves Saint Laurent), dressed globally successful golfers and chart-topping bands, and brought British design to an international audience, all whilst staying true to their heritage of quality craftsmanship and distinctive design.
To commemorate the 140th anniversary, Lyle & Scott will be launching Lyle & Scott 140, a collection, made entirely in Britain, that at once references the rich past and looks forward to the future.

For 140, Lyle & Scott delved into their extensive archives to trace the roots of their signature aesthetic. The result is an 11-piece premium line of polo shirts, long-sleeve jumpers and knitted tank tops made entirely in Britain. 140 centres on a re-working of the original logo – ‘L&S Ltd’ – but also features the iconic embroidered eagle, which rests on the sleeve of 140 pieces, subtly referencing Lyle & Scott’s contemporary aesthetic.
In contrast to the bright hues of golf clothing, they’ve turned to their Scottish heritage for inspiration for 140’s sumptuous colour palette. From berry red to ink black, ivory to royal blue, 140’s understated colour palette ushers in a new era of elegance.
