After a successful partnership at London Collections: Men last June, Casio G-SHOCK and Matthew Miller present the efforts of their most recent collaboration: a new style of the ‘G’MIX’ GBA-400 produced in an extremely limited-edition run of 50.
For those unfamiliar with Casio’s new G’MIX technology, the brand’s latest innovation allows the wearer to control the music on a smartphone through the watch in conjunction with the G’MIX app. A fusion of Casio’s technological expertise and Miller’s penchant for conceptual design, the London-based designer used the project as an opportunity to highlight the issue of consumption in a positive way:
“In modern design and society it’s not very often a product that helps you to consume more is considered a positive trait. Any object that allows a much freer and speedier access to culture, music and the arts has to be celebrated.”
The watch also comes with a pair of headphones from Urban Ears, in custom-designed packaging – also by Miller – which uses fast-food iconography to reference the fast consumption of culture. The capsule collection is supported by a compelling sixty-second animation which highlights the functions of the watch, which you can see below.
