RAF SIMONS X FRED PERRY SHOT BY WILLY VANDERPERRE
Now entering its ninth season, the collaboration between Raf Simons and Fred Perry has rarely felt stronger.
First launched in 2008, this pan-European partnership has always been facilitated by a shared celebration of youth culture, as both brands are great champions of the creative vitality of youth.
To promote this collection, Raf has once more enlisted his regular collaborators Willy Vanderperre and Olivier Rizzo – the photographer and stylist were responsible for creating Belgian designer’s recent AW13 and SS14 lookbooks.
Continuing the disjointed, collage motifs from their work for Raf Simons, the creative duo have produced this wilfully chaotic video. The audio blends vintage tennis commentary – an obvious reference to Fred Perry’s sporting roots – with ‘90s rave refrains; think of it as Wimbledon meets Wigan Pier.

As for the collection itself, Fred Perry’s classic polo shirt is once again the canvas upon which Raf’s design ideas are expressed. This expression comes in the form of exaggerated 1970s collars – a recognisable feature for fans of the Belgian’s mainline collection – vibrant, contrasting colours and checkerboard themes that reference Fred Perry’s punk heritage.
The launch date for this new collection is Feb/March and we will bring you further news as soon as the items arrive in the oki-ni studio.
