Italian sportswear pioneers Stone Island celebrate the dynamism of movement in this new video for their AW14 Stone Island Shadow Project collection.
Titled 6119, this season’s Stone Island Shadow Project collection sits firmly in the vanguard of technical clothing. Stone Island say that the collection is “a synthesis between precision tailoring and the off-kilter silhouettes of sport and subculture”, and they have truly succeeded in creating a collection that creates a forward thinking hybrid of sportswear, streetwear and performance clothing.
The brand’s AW14 film centres on movement, reminding us that at its core Stone Island creates clothes for bodies in motion; the articulation of limbs, the dynamics of movement and the regulation of temperature and are all considered and accommodated.
Futuristic graphics and prints create a modernist mood throughout the range. The use of glitch motifs on knitwear and accessories, matched with sci-fi font choices and tessellating graphic patterns firmly set the tone.
Elsewhere, Stone Island demonstrates their skill with fabric treatment and dyeing. Earlier this season we explored the myriad process behind the Stone Island Hand-Painted Tortoiseshell Jacket. In a similarly complex process, the Grid Fabric Fur Hooded Jacket from Shadow Project uses a corrosion technique to produce the individual tiger-stripe-pattern which is unique on every jacket.
