Trunk LABS – a new accessories shop from Trunk Clothiers in London
London menswear retailer Trunk Clothiers is proud to launch Trunk LABS: the brand’s first accessories shop featuring a selection of the best luggage, accessories, bags and shoes from Japan, Australia, Germany, Italy, the UK and beyond. Located on Marylebone’s Chiltern Street, a short stroll from Trunk Clothiers, Trunk LABS will open on Saturday 15 June.
Since launching in September 2010, Trunk Clothiers has introduced a new style of menswear retailing to London, quickly amassing a loyal group of admirers from around the globe. Responding to the demands of the Trunk shopper, Trunk LABS will bring together a lovingly handpicked range, setting a new standard for men seeking accessories of the highest quality matched with impeccable service.
“Trunk is a shop for men who like to look sharp in all settings,” says Mats Klingberg, Trunk Clothiers founder and managing director. “With Trunk LABS we’re taking a very wide approach when defining what an accessory is, from ties and pocket squares to luggage, bags, shoes, belts and small leather goods, as well as grooming products, stationery, eyewear, home wares and even furniture. “LABS stands for luggage, accessories, bags and shoes but the idea is to also see it as a lab where we can test different things that we love and discover on our travels near and far.”
Trunk LABS aims to make it easier for men seeking ways to add that small extra touch to their clothes, home or office, and will also assist in finding a suitable gift for the discerning gentleman who already seems to have it all.
Continuing Trunk’s support for emerging and established brands of craft and provenance, Trunk LABS has convinced brands such as Ichizawa Hanpu, a 100-year-old canvas maker from Kyoto with very limited previous wholesale experience, to take a risk with an independent London menswear retailer. These are the challenges that makes Trunk LABS unlike any other shop in Britain.
At approximately 30 sq m, the store’s warm palette of greys are complemented by concrete floors and mid-century furniture sourced from Andrew Weaving’s Century, a former neighbourhood retailer. The effect is an inviting environment with faint accents of 1970s Scandinavia where Klingberg grew up.
In a unique partnership with Weaving, a selection of the furniture will also be for sale.In 2011, Trunk was chosen as a Brand of Tomorrow by Walpole and in 2012 won the Best Premium Independent Retailer of the Year award at Drapers Fashion Awards. Stand-out products available at the Trunk LABS opening include Ichizawa Hanpu canvas tote bags from Kyoto, Aesop grooming products from Australia, Graf glass tumblers from Osaka, Kaweco Pens from Germany and Rimowa suitcases. Prices range from £20 to £905.
Trunk LABS opens Saturday 15 June and will be open 11.00-19.00 Monday to Friday, 11.00-18.00 on Saturdays and 12.00-17.00 on Sundays.
